Clean Your Teeth Better With These Dental Gadgets

2022-04-01
/
Dr. Kyle D. Eberlein, DDS

Not only has the desire for straighter, whiter teeth increased from a higher media portrayal of a perfect smile, but the latest dental gadgets are making dental care faster and easier than ever before. If you are hoping to whiten your teeth or improve your overall oral health, you can change the way you care for your teeth with modern dental technology.

Simple Investments to Improve Your Dental Hygiene
Make both you and your dentist smile by treating your teeth right with these new dental gadgets:

Floss Dispensers

Flossing is pivotal for gum and dental health. It is something that every dentist emphasizes, but many patients don’t do it as often as they should. Sometimes flossing is just too much of a chore for our busy, on-the-go lives. But with new flossing tools, flossing has never been easier. Floss dispensers require only a simple push of a button, and the perfect amount of floss will dispense. Some dispensers even come with a timer that will gauge how good of a job you do flossing your teeth. Other devices are available for children, making flossing more fun than ever before.

If you floss well, you can reduce your risk of developing cavities, have better gum health, and be in far less pain at cleaning appointments. Adjusting to the habit of daily flossing can save you from having to fix bigger dental problems later. You can also save your dental hygienist's work at your next cleaning, too.

Electric Toothbrush

There is a multitude of electric toothbrushes to choose from, but the latest dental hygiene has invented a smart toothbrush that can connect to your phone. These toothbrushes monitor how well you are brushing your teeth. Some of them can even provide real-time feedback, making brushing your teeth more effective than ever.

Electric toothbrushes achieve greater cleanliness than old-fashioned toothbrushes and are more capable of controlling plaque buildup. If plaque is not removed, it can eventually lead to cavities, tooth decay, gum disease, and other dental issues.

Water Flossers

Similar to the pressurized water gun your dental hygienist uses at your cleaning appointments, water flossers are perfect for people with braces or those who want to get a thorough tooth cleaning. Water flossers shoot pressurized water out that can be used to floss between the teeth as well as to clean the gums. Many versions are portable and can be carried with you on vacations or other getaways.

Dental Apps

Dental apps are available for both kids and adults. Many of these apps can pair with your smart toothbrush and monitor how well you are brushing your teeth. If your child is stubborn about brushing their teeth, dental apps can make the overall brushing experience much more fun. Apps offer games that challenge your child to practice better dental hygiene and to brush their teeth for longer.

Blue Light for Teeth Whitening

Whitening strips are becoming less popular with the increase of blue light technology. Blue light teeth whitening devices work by having you first apply a whitening agent to your teeth. Then, you turn on the blue light device and hold it over your teeth. This has proven to be an extremely effective and simple method for people looking for an alternative to traditional whitening strips.
