Selected as a dental resident from a very competitive national pool. Completed rotations in oral surgery, prosthetics operative dentistry, periodontics, emergency medicine and anesthesiology. On call in hospital every fourth night; responsible for admissions, diagnosis, and emergency treatment for all patients with basic dental emergencies and traumatic injuries including lacerations, hard and soft tissue trauma. Experience in dental forensics exams. Continuing education in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Combat Casualty Care Training.
Commissioned Officer Student Training Extern Program: Public Health Service, Valleywide Health Services, Alamosa, Colorado 1990
Selected for a two month training program in comprehensive dental care directed towards migrant workers in the San Luis Valley. Position included health educational programs covering adverse effects of tobacco use, preventive dental education and screenings, and the clinical placement of sealants at local elementary schools.
